In just the first day of the 2020 NFL Combine, we are already witnessing new records being set. Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs broke an offensive lineman Combine record in not just one, but two drills in Indianapolis on Friday.

The former Hawkeye set records in the broad jump with a leap of 10"1' as well as recording a 36.5-inch vertical jump.

What makes this Combine performance even more impressive is the fact Wirfs weighs 320 pounds. The records Wirfs broke on Friday were previously held by Joshua Miles who had a vertical of 36.0 inches in 2019 and Kolten Miller who had a broad jump of 10-1 in 2018.

Not only does Wirfs have record-breaking leaping ability, he has elite speed for his size. In the 40-yard dash Wirfs ran a time of 4.86 seconds, which is blazing fast for an offensive lineman, especially one of his stature.

While speed and athleticism are not the top priorities for scouts when grading lineman, it definitely plays a factor in the final reports to determine who teams will select come draft day.
