The NBA never wants to see an incident like the Malice at the Palace again. Fan altercations with players have been a major issue for some time now, especially with the events that took place with Russell Westbrook in Utah last season. That's why Wizards guard Isaiah Thomas was promptly ejected following his dispute with a fan in Philadelphia Saturday night.

This is the first time in years that a player has actually ventured into the stands to argue with a fan. Both fans were promptly sent out of Wells Fargo Arena, and the NBA will likely hand down further punishment once we know precisely what was said. As a player, entering the stands calls for immediate ejection per league rules, although Thomas remained calm and collected throughout the conversation.
Isaiah Thomas said a fan gave him the middle finger with both hands and said, “F— you, b——“ after he made his second free throw. Said he calmly approached the fan to tell him to not to disrespect him. Fan said, “Sorry, I really wanted a Frosty.”

The game itself was already a blowout when the exchange took place, with Philly up 119-102 in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. The Sixers would go on to win the game 125-108 to improve to 21-10 on the season.
