It Took Jalen Hurts 1 Game to Tie an Impressive Oklahoma Sooners Record
By Jerry Trotta

Jalen Hurts is sure doing all he can to win over the hearts of the Oklahoma Sooners fan base. The Alabama transfer was seen hyping up his new teammates prior to tonight's season-opening showdown against Houston as if he'd been with the program for three-plus years.
The 21-year-old gunslinger then translated that emotion to elite composure on his first possession for No. 4 Oklahoma, connecting with full Jeremiah Hall for his first touchdown of 2019.
Further, to virtually nobody's surprise, Hurts also impressed with his legs in the first half against the Cougars, rushing for 128 yards -- a tally that already saw him break a record of Sooners legend Jamelle Holieway.
According to Oklahoma Sports Information, Jalen Hurts' 128 yards rushing matches a school record for a QB in a first half. He ties Jamelle Holieway's performance in 1985 against Kansas. #Oklahoma #Sooners

We'll hazard a guess and say that the former Crimson Tide QB is motivated to make a name for himself in Norman now that he is finally out of Tua Tagovailoa's shadow.

Early indications suggest that head coach Lincoln Riley is about to work his magic with another player under center. Couple his brilliance with Hurts' undeniable drive to excel in his new home, and Sooners Nation could be in for another dazzling campaign.
