It Turns Out LeBron James Can't Give Anthony Davis His Number Just Yet
By Mark Powell

No, LeBron didn't just pull the rug out from under Anthony Davis.
In a show of good faith, the King offered his No. 23 to AD upon his relocation to Los Angeles, a move many thought symbolized a passing of the torch of sorts. Yet, according to the NBA, that can't happen just yet.

James had expressed the desire to switch back to No. 6, which he wore in his Miami Heat days. Unfortunately for LBJ and Davis, the deadline has already passed to switch numbers as the Association and their merchandise partners doesn't have the time or resources to make such an adjustment this late in production.
Such a move would've been a huge financial hit for Nike, and we know money talks in the Association. While this is surely disappointing for Lakers fans, it's the sentiment that counts and Davis must understand this. He and James have already formed a strong bond, which is what really matters.

New number or not, it's the thought that counts, right?
