VIDEO: Ja Morant Focuses on Family in Heartfelt Speech at Murray State Jersey Retirement Ceremony
Ja Morant has become a star for the Memphis Grizzlies in his rookie season in the league. But despite the current buzz surrounding him, the kid will never forget he got his start and learned his trade as a Murray State Racer, and the school retired his number Saturday night. Morant made sure to thanks his parents in his heartfelt speech.
The young man is still only 20 years old, and has the maturity of someone much older. It is clear that he is this way because of the great job done by his parents in raising him to be the man he is today.
Morant shared how they pushed him to keep being great, and how they always propped him up and built up his confidence. The talent was already there for him to be great, of course. Morant's parents then gave him the motivation to succeed and end up being the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft out of a mid-major school like Murray State.
