Jack Flaherty Honors Late Tyler Skaggs With Message on Cleats During Start on Tuesday
The baseball world was shocked by the tragic loss of Angels' starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs at the beginning of July, and since his passing, handfuls of players have taken the time to pay tribute to their friend and competitor.
Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty was the latest to honor Skaggs Tuesday night by writing a message on his cleats for his start against the Pirates.
Flaherty wrote "RIP TSKAGGS" and "TS45" on his cleat to pay his respects to the former Angels pitcher.
Players like Mike Trout and Patrick Corbin have honored Skaggs with everything from wearing his number to writing "TS45" in the dirt on the mound.
More recently, the Angels threw a combined no-hitter in their game celebrating the life of Skaggs, giving us fans one of those "sports are the best" moments. Every player for the Angels wore Skaggs' jersey during the 13-0 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Flaherty's show of respect certainly wasn't the first time a player honored Skaggs, and its likely it won't be the last.
