In one of the craziest sports moments in recent memory, Indianapolis Colts franchise quarterback Andrew Luck retired from football on Saturday. Nobody saw it coming and the news happened to be released while the Luck was on the sidelines during a preseason game.

This was obviously not the ideal way for fans and his teammates to find out, and as he walked off the field with his teammates, a notable portion of fans at Lucas Oil Stadium erupted into a cloud of boos. That surely doesn't represent the bulk of the Colts fan base, but that doesn't mean Luck's teammates liked it one bit, including fellow QB Jacoby Brissett, who is now the starter.

"Yeah, it sucked. It’s like, you don’t want to hear that,” Brissett said during a news conference Monday. “Especially a guy like [Luck], who’s done as much as he’s done and what he’s been through. Even before I got here and talking to him and hearing those stories, nah."

During Luck's retirement presser Saturday night after the game, which was suppose to take place on Sunday afternoon only for the news to get leaked, he was asked about the fan reaction and said the booing did hurt.

You can certainly understand that sentiment, especially from a player who put his body on the line for the city of Indianapolis and this franchise, and did a lot with very little around him in the early stages of his career.

Brissett will face adversity this season, but he's already passed his first test by standing by his guy right to the end.
