Jadeveon Clowney Fires Agent and Still Has Yet to Sign Franchise Tender
By Parker White

This Jadeveon Clowney saga has taken an interesting turn.
There have been rumors circling that the Houston Texans intend to trade the outside linebacker (after mischaracterizing his position during negotations), as they don't want to pay him the huge money he's seeking, and there appears to be a strong market for his services. Well, nothing has ultimately happened on that front, which has led to Clowney firing his agent Bus Cook on Tuesday.
Oh, and he still hasn't reported to camp and signed his franchise tender.
Unhappy with the state of talks about his future, Jadeveon Clowney recently fired his longtime agent, Bus Cook, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. Clowney was originally expected to report to the #Texans this week, but has yet to sign his franchise tender.

Clowney is unhappy with what's been going on, but before he can be traded, he needs to sign that franchise tender first. Of course, that means he can't get a contract extension until after the upcoming season.
Notes IF Jadeveon Clowney were to be traded:

* Clowney must first sign his franchise tag tender
* He's due $15.97M in cash and counts $15.97M against the cap
* Cannot be extended until after the season
* Just 26 years old
* Has played in 60 of 80 career games with 29.0 sacks
Maybe Clowney will represent himself and decline to hire a new agent? His unhappiness with his agent appears to have been forming for some time, so it's a not a shock that he's been let go, but I don't think we'll see him traded sooner now that he lacks representation.
