NFL Insider Says Jadeveon Clowney Wants to Play for One of These 2 NFC Powerhouses
By Tyler Kemp
In terms of pure talent and production, Jadeveon Clowney is the best free agent still available in the NFL. While Clowney had a career low in sacks and tackles since his rookie season in Houston, he was still a force along Seattle’s defensive line during 2019, disrupting quarterbacks and stopping the run.
With Clowney still on the open market and training camps approaching in about a month, the six-year veteran and his camp are still waiting for the right situation. Due to the fact that Clowney missed out on his big money, it sounds like he would be willing to go somewhere where he can win even if the financials are not in line with what he wants. According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, Clowney has two teams he is looking at in the NFC.
Clowney is looking at either going to Dallas or New Orleans for the 2020 season, according to this. With both teams already having solid rosters offensively and defensively, adding Clowney would just be an embarrassment of riches.
According to Pauline, both teams would have to make smart financial moves in order to bring the former No. 1 overall pick into the building. Pauline gave a breakdown on PFN’s NFL Draft Insiders Podcast.
It seems if Clowney can't get the money he wants after a statistically down season, he wants to be in contention on a top team right away. For the Cowboys and Saints, this is an equally beneficial situation considering he would put their defenses over the edge to get through the NFC and compete with a team like the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
