Jadeveon Clowney Still Remaining Unsigned Suggests He's Being Unrealistic With His Contract Demands

The biggest free agent that is somehow still on the market is former Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who is seeking a $18-$21 million per year contract after an up-and-down season in the Pacific Northwest.

Clowney is the only player still on the market who could change the outlook of a club on defense, but he simply isn't going to have the chance to make his presence felt if he keeps asking for the world in his new deal and refusing to lower his price.

Clowney might have been among the best pass rushers in the league last year when it came to pressuring the quarterback, but teams are simply not going to pay top dollar for a player that only managed three sacks all season long.

If Clowney stops insisting on a deal that puts him among the highest-paid pass rushers in the league, a flurry of teams would sign him up in an instant. One team that has been particularly hot on his trail is the Tennessee Titans, who could look to either sign Clowney or use the No. 29 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on a pass rusher.

Clowney is going to be on an NFL roster at some point, as he's simply too talented of a pass rusher to stay a free agent for too long. Dying on this hill, however, is going to make finding that next contract harder to come by.
