Jaguars Owner Refutes Rumors That Doug Marrone is Out as Jacksonville's Head Coach
By Sean Facey

Well this is quite the pickle. It looks like Doug Marrone's job is safe, at least for the moment.
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan released a statement through spokesman Jim Woodcock refuting the emerging reports that Marrone would be fired following the team's Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Khan clarified that he won't make any decision until after he meets with the team's personnel next week.
Statement from Jim Woodcock, #Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s spokesman: "Reports that Doug Marrone will be dismissed after Sunday’s game are 100 percent incorrect. Owner Shad Khan will meet with his football staff, which includes coaching and personnel, midweek next week.”

ESPN had previously reported that Marrone was to be relieved of his duties, though contradictory reports have since been made.

It's certainly surprising to see the Jaguars refute the report, especially considering Marrone's poor performance over the last two years. The team's appearance in the 2017 AFC Championship Game feels like nothing more than a distant memory.
Marrone is rightfully on the hot seat, and for a brief moment, it looked as though judgement had finally been passed.

Now, though, it's a waiting game for both the fans and the staff. Though the statement did say that he won't be dismissed following Sunday's game, it made no guarantees about his future with the team.
