Jaguars Trade CB AJ Bouye to Broncos for 4th-Round Draft Pick
By Michael Luciano
We've got our first big trade of the 2020 NFL offseason, and it involves a former Pro Bowler being dealt for pennies on the dollar.
Doug Marrone and the Jacksonville Jaguars, in need of draft picks to rebuild, traded former Pro Bowl cornerback AJ Bouye to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year's draft. The deal will become official when the new league year starts on March 18.
After four years with the Houston Texans, the former UCF star signed with the Jaguars, where he became one of the best cornerbacks in the league opposite Jalen Ramsey. Bouye made his first Pro Bowl in 2017, while grading as one of the best corners in the league, according to PFF.
The last two years have been a bit of a struggle, but he was still very effective outside, as he intercepted one pass and made a career-best 65 tackles last season.
Denver is now free to use the No. 15 pick in the draft on a wide receiver or offensive lineman, while this almost guarantees that Jacksonville will spend either pick No. 9 or pick No. 20 on a cornerback.
Bouye comes with a pretty large contract, but this is a massive win for Denver, who could have one of the stingiest defenses in all of football under Vic Fangio next season.
