Jalen Ramsey Declared Inactive After Jags Owner Shad Khan Said He Was Likely to Play
By Michael Luciano
As desperate as Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan is to keep superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey around, is appears that Jags fans might have seen the last of No. 20.
Despite a conversation with Khan, plus an affirmation from the owner himself that Ramsey was expected to play this week against the New Orleans Saints, Ramsey has officially ruled inactive all the same.
Ramsey, who requested a trade amid reported frustration with coach Doug Marrone and president of football operations Tom Coughlin, hasn't played since Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. He has missed time after celebrating the birth of his child and suffering a back injury.
While the Jaguars have managed to play pretty well without Ramsey, largely due to the excellent play of Gardner Minshew, the defense has been noticeably less fearsome without Ramsey. Rather than flip him for a boatload of picks, the Jaguars have been stubbornly trying to convince him to stay in Duval County.
Unfortunately, their pleas are falling on deaf ears.
It's become perfectly clear that Ramsey has played his last down as a Jaguar. Why the organization is continuing to keep him around and sour relations even further is simply puzzling.
