Jalen Ramsey's Tweet to Leonard Fournette Fuels Trade Rumors for Jaguars RB
By Jerry Trotta
It's been bizarre to watch unfold, but running back Leonard Fournette is now one of the last core players remaining on the Jacksonville Jaguars team that appeared in the AFC Championship Game just three seasons ago.
After trading Nick Foles, Calais Campbell, and AJ Bouye, it's become quite evident that general manager David Caldwell is stripping it down and plans on entering a rebuild.
Trading the 25-year-old Fournette seems like an inevitability, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who the Jags traded in October, fueled those rumors with his latest tweet.
It would appear that Ramsey is leading the charge to get Fournette out of Jacksonville. In terms of forcing trades, the star RB couldn't have asked for a better campaign manager. After all, the All-Pro cornerback went to great lengths to pressure Jacksonville into trading him last season.
If Fournette listens to Ramsey's advice, he'll be offloaded in no time.
Fournette is entering the final year of his rookie contract and it's highly unlikely that the Jaguars pick up his fifth-year option in 2021. Because of that, Jacksonville won't have a ton of leverage in trade talks, but getting something in return for the former No. 4 overall pick should be the team's top priority.
