The Philadelphia Eagles surprised a lot of fans and analysts when they passed on Justin Jefferson to take TCU wideout Jalen Reagor. The young man has a lot of potential to contribute to Carson Wentz's (or Jalen Hurts') stable of capable receiving threats.

Reagor announced his official jersey number on Thursday, and it should be a welcome sight for fans of the recent generation of standout Eagles wide receivers.

The last notable player to don the number was Jeremy Maclin, who was a nice complement to DeSean Jackson for several years of Philly football. He's one of the better standout receivers the Eagles have had in the past decade, and things won't look too different next year with No. 18 sprinting down the field.

If Reagor's attitude isn't enough to get Eagles fans hyped about their latest addition, the fact they'll see another young player suit up with 18 on their chest should have them excited. Optics matter, and it's nice to see something familiar darting across the field.

Maclin was a solid target for his first four years in the league, but really took off in 2014 when he sprung loose for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns. He then left Philadelphia, folllowing the best season of his career. With Reagor's talents, he could reach that level much earlier, and hopefully this time, they'll keep 18 around a little longer.

Reagor may have seemed like a draft pick out of left field at first, but if he lives up to his number and the expectations of the city, he could be right at home with Philly.
