Jamal Adams Blasts Jets GM Joe Douglas for Allegedly Shopping Him in Trades 'Behind His Back'
By Jerry Trotta
The 2019 NFL trade deadline failed to live up to expectations, but the fallout of trades that weren't to be is oozing with captivating storylines.
The New York Jets were reported to be considering a fire sale on Tuesday, but general manager Joe Douglas ultimately kept quiet. At the center of those rumors was safety Jamal Adams, who was understood to be linked to the Dallas Cowboys leading up to the 4 p.m. ET deadline.
Some reports suggested that the Pro Bowler was asking for a trade out of the Big Apple because he was enamored with the idea of returning to his native Texas. Well, Adams unleashed on Twitter on Tuesday evening to profess that he, in fact, wanted to stay with Gang Green all along.
That's about as simple and direct that you can be.
Up next, however, was a more detailed assessment of the rumors surrounding his name, as Adams didn't hold back about Douglas allegedly going behind his back to ship him at the deadline despite his insistence that he wanted to remain with the Jets.
Typical Jets, is it not?
How many other franchises around the league wouldn't confront their defensive stalwart before floating his name in trade talks? And how exactly did it leak that he was enchanted with the prospect of returning to Texas?
This whole predicament just became all the more toxic, and the Jets will now have to live with their star safety perhaps being a bit disgruntled for the foreseeable future.
