Jameis Winston agreeing to sign with the New Orleans Saints indicated that he had no qualms with taking a backseat to Drew Brees for the betterment of his NFL career.
Well, the details of Winston's one-year contract with the team have been revealed, and they further prove that he's willing to do whatever it takes to turn his career around. Per ESPN insider Field Yates, the deal holds a base value of $1.1 million. It also includes a $148,000 signing bonus and over $3 million in incentives.
Jameis Winston’s one-year contract with the Saints carries a base value of $1.1M, per source. He got a $148,000 signing bonus, a base salary of $952,000 and $3.4M is available in incentives. Jameis prioritized the chance to learn and grow as a player.

Winston deserves significant credit for taking a pay cut in his first opportunity to pocket a lucrative contract as an NFL player. The 26-year-old wisely opted to bet on himself and chose to sign with the Saints, who worked wonders on Teddy Bridgewater, a former quarterback castaway, in 2019.
Learning under head coach Sean Payton, Brees, and the rest of New Orleans' top-tier coaching staff might just be exactly what Winston needs to get back in the good graces of the league. Of course, the former No. 1 overall pick is fresh off an electrically strange season in which he tossed 30 interceptions.

$148,000 signing bonus
$952,000 base salary
$1.76M playtime incentives
$1.8M playoff playtime incentives
$40,000 Pro Bowl incentive
Base $1.1M. Max $4.7M with incentives.
This flimsy contract could turn into something more worthwhile if Winston impresses on his one-year deal. Based on the evident maturity adjustment he's endured, we like his chances.
