James Harden Just Ruined 50-Point Games as Part of His Ongoing Quest to Ruin Basketball
By Jerry Trotta

To say that James Harden has been on a scoring rampage throughout the first month-plus of the new NBA season would be an understatement.
After all, he's averaging a whopping 39.5 points per game thus far, and we wouldn't put it past him to arrive at a 40-point clip when all is said and done. On Saturday, Harden logged the most efficient 60-point game in league history in a blowout victory over the Hawks, before checking out prior to accruing his career high.

He followed that performance with a 50-burger in a double overtime loss to the Spurs on Tuesday night. While that might seem alluring from the surface, how The Beard got there might have officially ruined 50-point games for us.
James Harden shot just 28.9% from the field tonight, easily the lowest such figure in NBA history by a player in a 50-point game. He also tied the NBA record for most 3-pointers missed in a game with 16.

Harden finished 11-for-38 from the floor, including an abysmal 4-for-20 (!) from distance. You might be thinking to yourselves, how on earth did he reach the 50 mark with that kind of efficiency?
The former MVP knocked down 24 of his 24 free throw attempts (impressive in its own incredibly dull way), and we are now fully convinced that Harden is spoiling everything we thought we knew about the game of basketball.
Look at the following clip and try to tell us otherwise:
Worth noting (again) that this game would have been over in regulation if the officials had counted James Harden, um, putting the ball in the basket here. pic.twitter.com/tSOTqn0FKd

When does that ever happen?
Almost never, but Harden simply isn't human, and it's more than fitting that this highlight featured in one of the most broken singular performances we've ever witnessed on the hardwood.
Reaching 50 points just shouldn't be possible when you shoot under 30%, but Harden is as enigmatic as they come, and we really don't know how to feel about it.
