VIDEO: James Harden Literally Stood at Mid-Court for Entire Crucial Rockets Possession vs Warriors
James Harden is easily one of the most skilled offensive basketball players on the planet. And yet, he's more cold-blooded scorer than facilitator. It is well established that Harden's offensive game relies on having the ball in his hands, as he has been known to pout in the corner when a play is not designed with him in mind. In Wednesday night's game with the Warriors, Harden decided to take his off-ball pouting to mid-court on a vital possession in the third quarter.
As you can see, Harden barely passes the center court logo for the full duration of this offensive possession, walking around aimlessly with his hands at his side while his teammates play 4-on-5 basketball. I sincerely doubt that GM Daryl Morey has any analytical information that says standing around at half-court is a great offensive strategy.
This Christmas game was very uncharacteristic for Harden in other ways, as he got to the line just once while allowing Russell Westbrook to take 32 shots, leading to the Warriors' upset victory.
While taking a possession or two off in December may go unnoticed, doing so in bigger games down the line could draw some extremely harsh criticisms for Harden. Expect a big bounce back game for Harden and the Rockets as they take on the Nets this Saturday.
