James Paxton Hoping for Return to Yankees on Wednesday
By Brendan Azoff

The Yankees could be getting a big boost to their rotation this week, as James Paxton is hoping to return Wednesday for a start against the Padres. The lefty has been on the Injured List with a left knee injury, but it appears he is ready to hit the bump once again.
James Paxton says he threw a bullpen yesterday, and his knee feels "the best that it's felt" since going on the IL. He described it as similar to a bruise, and says he will meet with a doctor today to try to get cleared for a start Weds. Just looking for it not to get worse.

After feeling as if his knee pain was nothing more than a bruise after his last bullpen session, Paxton is primed to re-enter a rotation that with C.C. Sabathia injured desperately needs a boost.
Paxton was 3-2 with a 3.11 ERA before going down with his injury, and although he feels ready to pitch, the Yankees still have not made the final decision on whether they will have him start Wednesday or not. Aaron Boone says he'll take the hill, but nothing is set in stone.

If all goes according to plan, the man they call Big Maple will start for the Bombers and will look to continue the success he had before getting hurt. We'll have to wait and see what the Yankees end up deciding.
