James White Says Patriots Will Peacefully Protest During 2020 Season

The NFL's recent swing in favor of the Black Lives Matter movement and peaceful protesting has even permeated the opaque walls of the New England Patriots, normally the last team in the league to speak out about anything that isn't football related.

Amid the controversy, Patriots running back James White confirmed that he and his teammates will find some way to peacefully protest during the 2020 NFL season, whether it's kneeling or another method.

"I'm sure we'll figure something out as a team. I'm not sure exactly what that will be, but I'm sure guys will peacefully protest in some type of form or fashion," White told reporters.

White, who piled up 908 yards from scrimmage as the "pass-catching" running back in Josh McDaniels' offense last season, was one of the first Patriot players to speak out about the state of social unrest in the country. Cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the reigning defensive player of the year, set an example for his teammates by appearing in a pro-Black Lives Matter video consisting of several NFL stars, including Michael Thomas and Patrick Mahomes.

If Bill Belichick, a man who has such an iron-fisted grip on the Patriots that some have compared it to a joyless dictatorship, is going to allow players like White to peacefully make their voices heard, then that should be a sign that the NFL is completely united behind social justice and major law enforcement reform. Kudos to the Patriots for uniting behind this worthy cause.
