Jamie Collins Spotted Wearing Strange New Number at Patriots OTAs

Now that linebacker Jamie Collins is back in New England where his career started, he'll be looking to revitalize himself this season in Bill Belichick's defense.

But unfortunately, his number 91 that he wore during his first tenure with the team is currently owned by fellow defensive mate, Deatrich Wise Jr. We all expected Collins to be sporting new digits in 2019, but did he also transition to QB?

No. 8 certainly won't be the number Collins wears once the season starts (we assume?!), as linebackers generally have to wear a number between 40-59 or 90-99. But wouldn't it be cool to see a single digit number at the linebacker position? The NFL should be more like the NCAA in that regard; let the players wear whatever number they want. It's not that big a deal, is it?

It seems like Collins is the only newly-acquired Patriot who's wearing an abnormal number. Maybe Belichick just ran out of jerseys to give out to his defensive players.

The Pats will be looking to defend their Super Bowl championship this season, and Jamie Collins will certainly play a role in how far the team makes it this year, whether his body is mimicking Brian Hoyer or not.
