Jarvis Landry Expected to Miss Browns Minicamp for Precautionary Reasons
By Jerry Trotta
The Cleveland Browns will start their mandatory three-day minicamp next week without one of their starting wide receivers. And no, his name is not Odell Beckham Jr.
Per insider Mary Kay Cabot, four-time Pro-Bowler Jarvis Landry is dealing with an undisclosed injury, that is not considered to be significant. However, head coach Freddie Kitchens told reporters on Thursday that the Browns will hold Juice out from the June 4-6 minicamp as a precaution.
Landry has been sitting out OTAs for the last couple of days, and it looks like that absence will continue through the first week of June.
But let's not freak out, Cleveland. By not practicing this week, the player will have more time to recover for the start of proper training camp in late July, which is obviously the priority here.
Cabot also reported that franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield said he plans to work out with some of his teammates in Southern California between minicamp and training camp. It's possible, then, that the two stars will get the chance to elevate their games together before late July workouts even come around.
Having a fully healthy Landry alongside OBJ is obviously the Browns' long-term goal here. Risking further injury during unpadded practices would just be flat-out silly and negligent.
