Not only has Jason Garrett clapped his last clap for the Dallas Cowboys, but it appears that he received a bit of flack on his way out the door.

Jane Slater of NFL Network was the first to report that at least one anonymous player disrespected Garrett with a profanity-laced text sent directly to him while he was still at the helm of the team.

This detail comes as a surprise when you consider the outpouring of respect that a number of players sent Garrett's direction when it was revealed that he was relieved of his duties.

It's worth noting that the text didn't wasn't precisely "eff you," but Slater said that it had that sort of general tone. The essence of it was that the player only had to answer to Jerry Jones, not his head coach.

Still, this report speaks volumes.

If you ask us, this kind of dysfunction starts at the top. Ol' Jerry simply keeps refusing to take even one step back and let his head coaches take control of the team. If a head coach is nothing more than a puppet on strings, why should the players feel the need to respect him?

For the narrative to change with new boss Mike McCarthy, Jones must pull back and let his new man run the show. It's as simple as that.
