VIDEO: Jason Kipnis Talks About Joining Cubs After Chicago Defeated Indians in 2016 World Series
Jason Kipnis spent his entire career with the Cleveland Indians before joining the Chicago Cubs this offseason. He was of course part of the 2016 Indians team that fell to the Cubs in the World Series, so it has to be a bit weird for him to join a team that crushed his dreams on baseball's biggest stage. However, the Cubs are his hometown team and Kipnis explained how the passing of time has healed some of the wounds.
Kipnis addressed the bizarre feeling of seeing the championship banners, but any Cleveland fan upset with his new team must remember that the Indians had no desire to bring him back in 2020. The man has to play baseball somehow.
Kipnis is not magically going to get over the 2016 World Series now that he's on the Cubs, but he has a legitimate chance to get back to the Fall Classic on a roster loaded with talent and a new manager in David Ross. That has to at least count for something.
