A Jason Peters-Eagles Reunion Shouldn't Be as Complicated as Reports Suggest

Back in March, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to turn the page on the Jason Peters era by letting the nine-time Pro Bowler test free agency, which (temporarily) ended their 11-year marriage. It's been over two months since that decision, and Peters reportedly hasn't generated a sniff of interest on the open market.

Therefore, it's reasonable to think that the 38-year-old would be keen on a return to the City of Brotherly Love on a short-term contract, right? Not exactly.

Peters himself claims that he's been in contact with the Eagles about a potential reunion, but is keeping his options open.

Based on the latest buzz (or lack thereof), it sure sounds like Peters doesn't have many alternatives. Unlike the start of the offseason, there aren't many teams that are in need of a left tackle, let alone one in the twilight of his career.

The Arkansas product recently posted a workout video to show teams that he's still nimble and capable of being a full-time starter in the NFL. Peters played 75% of Philly's offensive snaps in 2019, and Pro Football Focus gave him an elite 82.4 seasonal grade.

We understand the future Hall of Famer's incentive to bet on himself, but we're not so sure why he's playing hard to get with the Eagles, who would certainly welcome him back with open arms. More importantly, they remain his best landing spot.
