Jason Witten Could Reportedly Target Jason Garrett Reunion With Giants
By Ian Anderson

A Dallas Cowboys' legend could join a divisional foe this offseason.
According to Chris Mortensen, tight end Jason Witten is considering joining former head coach Jason Garrett in New York and becoming a Giant. While Witten might be significantly past his prime he still played a decent role for the Cowboys last season, and no Dallas fan wants to see him in the Big Apple next year.
With no on-field coaching spot on Mike McCarthy's @dallascowboys staff, sources say Jason Witten hasn't ruled out playing in '20, and not to rule out reunion w new @Giants OC Jason Garrett. Of Witten's 16 games, his most productive game was vs. Giants.

In his 2019 comeback attempt, Witten put up respectable numbers, with 63 receptions for 529 yards and four touchdowns. As Mortensen points out, Witten would be a valuable veteran presence in a Giants locker room learning Garrett's offense for the first time.
Witten could bring a veteran presence to a young locker room like @Giants, familiarity with Garrett's offense and a support role to some promising young tight ends. That said, nothing close to being settled on future. https://t.co/4O9sotZFlJ

Witten had previously expressed interest in a coaching role, but after meeting with Mike McCarthy is does not appear he'll be on the Cowboys' staff next season.

With the Giants' former tight ends coach Lunda Wells heading to the Dallas Cowboys, there was an opening for Witten were he deemed an acceptable candidate despite his lack of coaching experience.
Nonetheless, he doesn't appear ready to hang up his cleats just yet, and his relationship with Garrett could pay dividends.
