VIDEO: Multiple Angles of Javier Baez Crushing Spring Training Homer Will Get Cubs Fans Pumped
By Will Coleman
There's nothing to hide about it, one the most gorgeous swings in baseball belongs to Javier Baez of the Chicago Cubs. The 27-year old has clubbed 110 dingers in six major-league seasons, including a career-high 34 in 2018. As electric as Baez is in the field, he could be even better at the plate. He jacked a no-doubter over the left-field fence Tuesday and MLB's Twitter decided to give it the three-angle treatment. Cubs fans can watch this one on loop for hours without ever getting tired of it.
In the bottom of the third inning of a Spring Training meeting with the Kansas City Royals, Baez unleashed that mammoth shot to open up the game's scoring. Baez and teammate Jayson Heyward, who was standing in the on-deck circle, lifted their heads up at the exact same time to admire the long ball.
This was Baez's first homer of the 2020 calendar year, and it certainly won't be the last.
After avoiding it last month, Baez will be up for arbitration at the end of the season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2022. Something tells me, however, that the Cubs would prefer to keep Baez in their long-term plans.
