Jay Gruden Further Proves He Should've Already Been Fired With Pathetic Postgame Quote
By Scott Rogust
The Miami Dolphins have a next door neighbor in the cellar of the NFL overall standings in the hapless Washington Redskins. So why are the people responsible for this accidental tank still in power?
On Sunday, Washington was battered 33-7 by the New England Patriots, officially dropping them to an 0-5 overall record.
Absolutely everything is going wrong under head coach Jay Gruden, and when asked about his job security, he provided an uninspiring quote.
That's right, Jay Gruden will keep working as long as his key continues to allow him entrance into the Redskins facility. The type of hapless quote that the beloved town caretaker might deliver on "The Andy Griffith Show".
Washington is different when it comes to ineptitude in 2019. The Dolphins are bad because of intentional tanking. The Redskins, on the other hand, aren't deliberately losing, and instead believed they'd built a defense to compete with the big boys. Once again bloated and noncompetitive, they're not achieving the desired results.
The Redskins are 0-5 for the first time since 2001, and have lost 11 of their last 12 games. Gruden has bounced from Case Keenum to Dwyane Haskins to Colt McCoy as his quarterback over the past two weeks in a game of hot potato.
To make matters look more bleak for Gruden, owner Dan Snyder and team president Bruce Allen both departed Sunday's game as early as possible following their blowout loss to the Patriots.
Washington's fan base has already jumped ship on the football squad. All eyes will be on Monday morning, as there will no doubt be coverage of whether Jay Gruden is locked out of his potentially-former workplace.
