Jayson Tatum Gives Positive Injury Update After Ankle Scare at FIBA World Cup
By Parker White
On top of Team USA embarrassing themselves by needing overtime to get past Turkey in the group stages of the FIBA World Cup, it looked like one of the young stars of the game suffered a potentially severe ankle injury.
Every Boston Celtics fan should breath a sigh of relief, however, as per ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Tatum said his ankle is already feeling better and that he left the arena in a shoe (rather than a boot) and without a bad limp.
Tatum will have his sprained ankle re-evaluated on Wednesday. Unless he really wants to play, it would not come as a shock if he sits out the rest of the tournament and gets ready for the upcoming NBA season.
I'm sure Danny Ainge would appreciate the 21-year-old taking it easy for the rest of the summer.
Even without Tatum, this USA squad should still advance and at the very least make a deep run in the tournament. While their recent results have done nothing to build confidence among supporters, the talent and depth of the roster outweighs that of any other nation.
