JD Martinez's Reaction to Mookie Betts and David Price Getting Traded is Heartbreaking

The Boston Red Sox finally made the move to trade Mookie Betts in a blockbuster deal Tuesday night.
The Red Sox will lose both Betts and David Price in a move that sends two Boston stars to Los Angeles. One current Red Sox star is not happy with the decision and expressed his feelings with one simple, heartbreaking emoji.

Martinez won a title with the Red Sox in 2018 and has made it clear he wants to be on a championship team again. Trading away someone like Betts obviously hurts the team's chances in 2020.
At Winter Weekend, Martinez on why he opted into his 2020 contract w/ Boston: "It’s a competitive team. I want to win. I want to win championships. There’s no guarantee that if I do opt out I’m going on a competitive team"

Losing Betts/Price certainly makes them less competitive https://t.co/oP8vCWJn4I
Martinez had to have known Betts would be gone after all the rumors. While it's a smart business decision, that doesn't make it any easier for JD on a personal level.
JD opted into his 2020 contract with the expectation the Sox would compete for a title this coming season. This move, while expected, signals a retooling of sorts that Martinez didn't sign up for.
