Jeanie Buss Breaks Silence on Lakers and Backs Rob Pelinka
The Lakers mitigated a turbulent offseason by pulling off an Anthony Davis coup last week, but that hasn't prevented NBA spectators, insiders, and analysts from looking to the front office for answers. Finally, with things looking up for her current roster, president Jeanie Buss spoke out at the NBA Awards regarding GM Rob Pelinka and the rest of the Lakers front office.
Buss emphasized her trust and confidence in Rob Pelinka, who has been highly scrutinized by the media and fans following the unexpected resignation of Magic Johnson, the inability to secure head coach Tyronn Lue, the hiring of new head coach Frank Vogel, and the bundling of assets he forked over to New Orleans for a departing AD.
Buss also went on to discuss her relationship with Kurt and Linda Rambis and their impact on the Lakers organization. Linda has been with Buss for over 30 years now, while Kurt has been an on-again, off-again part of the organization, and spent last summer as an adviser.
“I have 100% confidence in him in running his basketball operations.”

She claimed that herself and the Rambis' have been working confidently together since the beginning and nothing has changed, despite claims by the media. These claims started during the hiring process for the Lakers' new head coach, when the media began to speculate about a higher level involvement from Linda and Kurt.
Buss ended her interview with excitement as she described what she was able to regarding changes with the Lakers for the upcoming season.
Though it seems like a lot, Jeanie Buss seemed to be answering questions politically to avoid any further backlash from the media. It does seem like the Lakers front office has been more under control lately, but the true test will be the rest of the offseason and the results that will follow next season.
