Jennifer King's Coaching Role With Redskins Revealed
By Will Coleman
Football is thought of as one of the world's toughest sports, and nowhere is that more true than in the NFL. It's been considered a men's league without many female coaches or executives. Thankfully, over the last few seasons several women have defied all odds and made it onto NFL sidelines in various coaching roles.
The Athletic reported that newly-hired Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera is prepared to make Jennifer King the league's first full-time, African-American female coaching assistant, and now the details of her position have been made clear.
King will make history as a full-year coaching intern. Not only will King have a salary but she'll also work directly under running backs coach Randy Jordan with a chance for a promotion the following season.
With experience coaching in the now-defunct AAF, the NCAA and as a part-time intern under Rivera with the Panthers, King knows what to expect in her new role this coming season.
King is plenty qualified for the job and her story can serve as an inspiration to young girls who had previously been discouraged from taking an interest in football.
