Jerry Jones' Latest Comment on Dak Prescott Contract Situation Seems to Be Totally Missing the Point
By Michael Luciano

Jerry Jones is fed up, and when he gets like this, heads start to roll. Be warned, Cowboys Nation.
Jones, who saw his Dallas squad come up just short in a 13-9 loss against the New England Patriots, is lashing out at the teams' lack of success despite a 6-5 record and several key pieces signed to big contract extensions. With star quarterback Dak Prescott still not signed for the long haul, Jones appears to be taking aim at Prescott's lack of winning despite the fact that the Cowboys are 39-23 in games Prescott has started.
Jerry Jones when asked on @gmfb about Dak’s contract: “Let me just say this, I think all of us, including the fans, want to win a damn football game. OK? ... We can take that other stuff. I’m not known as a guy that gets hand cramps when writing checks. But I want to win games.”

Jerry is getting older, hasn't won a championship since 1996, and wants to win some Super Bowls. No reasonable person can find fault in that motivation. However, if Jones thinks that Prescott has been holding the Cowboys back from winning, he's frankly missing the point.
Prescott, who is leading the NFL in passing yards under first-year offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, is having the best statistical season of his career, and has carried the Cowboys offense while Ezekiel Elliott has underperformed this season.
His head coach, mind you, is a complete front-office sycophant in Jason Garrett and manages to bungle at least one key in-game decision every week. But sure, Dak is the problem.

This could be the last year for Garrett in Dallas, and there likely won't be much opposition to that. However, if Jerry dumps Dak after this fantastic season, it could come back to bite him when Prescott latches on elsewhere and succeeds.
