Jerry Jones Making Us Wait for Jason Garrett Decision is Disservice to Cowboys Fans Everywhere
By Mark Powell
Jerry Jones is stealing the narrative yet again, even when most of us can read him like a book.
Jason Garrett is very unlikely to return as Cowboys coach. Yet, Jones has refused to give a concrete decision on 'Black Monday' as to whether or not Garrett is out of a job. Considering he's been with the Cowboys for a decade in some capacity, that's incredibly mean-spirited towards a man Jones supposedly respects.
Even worse is the flat-out betrayal to Cowboys fans, who surely deserve better.
Cowboys fans expect a team which plays up to their potential, not down to the level of their competition on a weekly basis. On pure talent alone, Dallas is a Super Bowl contender. In actuality, they come up short year after year, just so Jerry can have his yes man. It's infuriating, and if we're to believe Jones, it's in danger of continuing.
We have no reason to think Jones will actually keep Garrett, but by not putting him out of his misery to the relief of Cowboys fans everywhere, it simply extends their national nightmare that they hoped ended with Sunday's win against Washington.
Instead, Cowboys fans go on not knowing, and guessing the intentions of the most unpredictable owner in the NFL.
