Jerry Jones Reportedly Had Dinner With Amari Cooper's Agent

Though at times the NFL offseason can be slow and boring, it seems the Dallas Cowboys may never truly be free of any drama.
As the preseason inches closer, the biggest question surrounding the Cowboys centers around contract extensions with their top offensive players, including running back Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper.
While Elliott's holdout from training camp been the main topic in headlines of late, it seems the team is progressing on a deal for Cooper. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones were seen at dinner with Cooper's agent Joel Segal on Monday.
Cooper, a free agent after the year, was acquired by Dallas at last year's trade deadline and played nine games with the team. In that span, Cooper had 53 receptions, 725 yards and caught 9 touchdowns.
The Cowboys offense reached a whole new level with the acquisition of Cooper, so extending him would be wise. Despite his importance to the team, Cooper says he has no interest in a holdout and is not even thinking about his contract situation.
"I just think it's one of those things that's going to come naturally whether it happens in this [training camp] or not," Cooper said. "It's not really that big of a deal to me honestly."
Communication between the Cowboys and Cooper's agent is a good sign that a deal may happen before the season starts. It's shows that the two sides have a good relationship, which is more than can be said about the team and Elliott after Jones' comments regarding his holdout.
