Jerry Seinfeld Sadly Not Interested in Buying the Mets and Saving Fans From Their Ongoing Nightmare
By Jack Murphy
When thinking of the New York Mets, names like Pete Alonso, Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard are likely the first that come to mind. Not too far down that list, however, is the lovable Jerry Seinfeld, who is one of the foremost Mets superfans on planet earth.
Unfortunately for Mets supporters, Jerry is not interested in purchasing the team he loves from the Wilpon family, which would have been some light in the dark tunnel of news fans find themselves stuck inside after the last attempt at a sale embarrassingly fell through.
While Metropolitans fans may be upset with Seinfeld's decision, there is no arguing the reasoning he provided. If he were to become the owner of his beloved MLB franchise, he would not witness the game like a true fan anymore.
"The highest level of sports appreciation, particularly baseball, is a hotdog, a beer and a seat," he said, via TMZ.
The Wilpons are still looking to sell the Mets organization and almost had a deal with Steve Cohen. In classic Mets fashion, it crashed and burned at more or less the 11th hour.
Mets fans are uncertain of who will be the owner of the team after the Wilpon era mercifully ends, but one thing is for certain -- neither Jerry, Kramer, George, nor Elaine will be steering this ship in the years to come.
