Jets Acquire CB Nate Hairston From Colts in Exchange for 2020 6th-Round Pick
By Karl Rasmussen
The New York Jets' secondary is one of the thinnest in the league heading into the 2019 season, so the front office decided to make a move in order to add some depth.
According to Adam Schefter, the Jets have dealt their sixth-round pick in 2020 to Indianapolis, acquiring cornerback Nate Hairston in the swap.
Given the overall lack of talent at cornerback for the Jets, paired with Trumaine Johnson's down year and training camp injury, the need for additional bodies at cornerback was of the utmost importance in New York.
Hairston started in 11 games for the Colts over the past two seasons, but featured in 27. He's logged one career interception to go with 65 tackles, two sacks and six passes defensed.
The former fifth-round pick out of Temple will be given more opportunity to see the field in East Rutherford, N.J. and will look to impress prior to the Jets' regular season opener.
The Jets recently lost Avery Williamson to an ACL injury and Brandon Copeland to a four-game suspension, so perhaps their work acquiring talent on the defensive side of the ball is not yet over.
