VIDEO: Jamal Adams Admits He's Trying to Force Trade to Cowboys in Fan Footage
By Jerry Trotta
A disgruntled Jamal Adams formally requested a trade from the New York Jets last week after several failed attempts to persuade the organization to offer him a contract extension. The All-Pro safety subsequently came out and listed at least seven teams he would prefer being dealt to, and, to nobody's surprise, the Dallas Cowboys made the cut. Of course, Adams is from Texas and grew up rooting for the Cowboys. As if the 24-year-old stud's longing desire to play for his home state team wasn't enough to crush the hearts of Jets Nation, a video surfaced on Twitter over the weekend showing a random fan recording a video of Adams admitting that he's trying to be traded to Dallas.
It remains to be seen if the particulars of this clip are a violation of the NFL's tampering policy, but that's a discussion for another day. The story here is that the Cowboys' front office now has video evidence of Adams stating his hunger to play for them.
The Jets have the former No. 6 overall pick under contract through 2021 after choosing to exercise the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, which has approximately $13.5 million remaining.
Adams' eagerness for an extension is well-documented, but there's a chance he doesn't demand one, at least not right away, if he's traded to the Cowboys. Seriously, what is owner and de facto general manager Jerry Jones waiting for?
