Jets LB CJ Mosley Remains Without Timetable for Return
By Scott Rogust
The New York Jets' season has started off disastrously, considering the amount of money the team spent in free agency. One of the team's marquee signings, linebacker CJ Mosley, made an immediate impact in the Jets' home opener.
Yet, that's the last Jet fans have seen of him due to a groin injury, and his status remains cloudy.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Mosley has yet to practice at full speed since the injury, and his status for Week 5 and beyond is unknown.
“Running straight ahead felt pretty good,” Mosley said, via the Daily News. “Cutting and those type of motions are still... up in the air. That’s the part where I can’t really test it out because if I do, if I hurt it more, then it will set me back more. That’s been the tricky part. Just figuring out how to try to test that full-speed motion without damaging it more.”
The belief was that Mosley would heal up following the team's Week 4 bye, but as his comments illustrate, that's not the case.
Head coach Adam Gase confirmed that it's unlikely Mosley would participate in practice on Wednesday, leaving his status for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles in doubt.
Mosley exploded in his Jets debut, as he recorded six tackles, two passes defensed, and one interception returned for a touchdown. However, after leaving the game late, New York's defense collapsed, as they blew a 16-0 lead to the Buffalo Bills and ultimately lost 17-16.
For Jets fans looking for CJ Mosley to return this week, we're here to remind you not to hold your breath.
