Former Jets First-Round Pick Quinnen Williams Arrested in NYC with Handgun at LaGuardia Airport
Add this to the long list of things that have given New York Jets head coach Adam Case countless headaches. Unfortunately for him and the organization, it's star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Thursday night, the 2019 first-round NFL Draft pick was arrested after he tried flying out of New York's LaGuardia Airport with a handgun in his possession. No, we're not making that up.
According to local reports, Williams was arrested at around 9:15 p.m. with a Glock 19 handgun. That weapon, per reports, has an Alabama permit. However, he doesn't have a permit to carry it in either New York (or New Jersey, where the Jets' team facility is), which ultimately has led to his trouble with the law.
The NFL's No. 3 overall pick last April, Williams posted 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks during his rookie campaign. He was hoping to improve on somewhat of a disappointing first year in the NFL, but now has this black eye to deal with.
He'll now have to face consequences with the authorities while working on making sure he's able to help the Jets find some success in the gridiron come this fall. That's a lot to have to handle.
