Jets Reportedly Delaying Kelechi Osemele's Shoulder Surgery With Ridiculous Subterfuge
By Michael Luciano
The Browns and Bengals are horribly inept franchises, yes, but no one is close to the New York Jets when it comes to be horribly inept, yet doing so in a uniquely terrible way.
Their latest example of organizational incompetence is related to offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele, who wants to undergo a major shoulder surgery. Rather than let him get the surgery, the Jets have reportedly been sabotaging his attempts to go under the knife, sending blank and false MRI images to doctors, and refusing to give him any sort of worker's comp.
It seems that the Jets and Osemele, who was acquired from the Oakland Raiders this offseason, have widely varying viewpoints with regards to how injured he really is.
"How could they possibly get any worse," I hear you ask. Well, the Jets' plan to fine Osemele for conduct detrimental to the team if he doesn't practice tomorrow. Keep in mind the "conduct" they are fining him for is...wanting surgery.
From Kawhi Leonard to Trent Williams, we've seen players across sports refuse to play for their respective teams due to injury, as they claim (rightly) that they know their own body and if they can play at a high level. The Jets sending fake MRI scans to doctors to undercut a starting offensive lineman and then wanting to fine the player on top of that is beyond Same Old Jets. It's astounding.
