Jimmy Butler Trolls Trae Young on Instagram After Comeback Win
By Michael Luciano
Hawks point guard Trae Young thought he was going to leave American Airlines Arena with a win on Tuesday. The Hawks were up 117-111 with under a minute left in the fourth quarter against the Heat, on the verge of sealing the win. Jimmy Butler, however, had other ideas. After forcing overtime with a clutch 3, the Heat stampeded the Hawks in overtime, and ended up walking away with a 135-121 win.
Butler didn't let Young off the hook easy for erroneously calling the game "over," and trolled him on Instagram in the aftermath.
Young, who is the heart and soul of the struggling 6-18 Hawks, learned a tough lesson that the game isn't over until the final whistle sounds. While Atlanta appeared to be in position to lock down a victory, Butler and the Heat weren't just going to roll over on their home floor.
After acquiring Butler in the offseason, the Heat have enjoyed a tremendous start to the 2019-20 campaign, as one of the biggest surprises out of the Eastern Conference. The likes of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro have combined to form a pseudo-Big Three (with Butler) that is pushing Miami back to relevance. Throw in standout performances from Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn, and you have yourself one of the deepest teams in all of basketball.
Young might be in the middle of one of the best sophomore seasons we've seen from a statistical standpoint, but Butler and the Heat are blazing their way into the playoffs, while the Hawks will hope the ping pong balls fall their way in the lottery once again.
