Close-up Photo Shows Jimmy Garoppolo Threw Super Bowl Interception With His Eyes Closed
By Scott Rogust
The San Francisco 49ers didn't have the greatest of starts to Super Bowl LIV. Facing a 7-3 deficit to the Kansas City Chiefs in the second quarter, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw a bad interception while absorbing a massive hit from the Chiefs defense.
When looking at replays, Garoppolo doesn't look any better for the poor decision to throw it instead of eating the sack. The 49ers signal caller actually threw the ball with his eyes closed.
That's...not ideal. Only Patrick Mahomes can do that!
Garoppolo took a page right out of the Tony Romo and Eli Manning playbook, which is something you don't want to do in the biggest game of your career. Joe Montana would never.
Luckily for Garoppolo, the interception wasn't returned for a TD by Chiefs defensive back Bashaud Breeland. It resulted in a field goal.
Oh, and the 49ers tied the game on the very next drive, thanks to Garoppolo throwing a touchdown pass to fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
You got bailed out Garoppolo, just be sure to never, ever do that again, for the health of 49ers fans everywhere.
