The Cleveland Browns have already reached out to several of the NFL's most prominent names in efforts to rid themselves of the funk that plagued them during the Freddie Kitchens era.

The list of names is deep and includes some of the best brains in the business, including that of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski, and 49ers DC Robert Selah. And early on in 2020, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer's name surfaced as a leading candidate for consideration. According to team owner Jimmy Haslam, though, these reports are far from the truth.

"Right now, we are just focusing on people with NFL experience," Haslam told media in his season-ending press conference. As for speculation surrounding their interest in Meyer, Haslam had a simple reply: "I think it's pretty clear what I said."

Meyer currently serves as an analyst for Fox Sports, and stepped down from his duties at Ohio State after doctors discovered a non life-threatening arachnoid cyst in his brain in 2018. According to the three-time BCS National Champion, he still starves for that daily competitive fire he enjoyed while coaching.

“I’ve been in a fight for 33 years, and now you’re not in that fight,” Meyer exclaimed. “So how do you fulfill that fight? And I feel that every morning. Every morning."

As it stands, however, it doesn't seem likely that Meyer's next head coaching destination will be with the Browns.
