JJ Watt Tweets Incredibly Blunt Response to Latest NFL CBA Proposal
The NFL owners today voted on a new proposal for a collective bargaining agreement, with the deal being accepted by the majority of the owners. Tomorrow, 32 player representatives vote on the potential CBA, and if two thirds vote yes, then the vote goes to the full membership of the NFL Players Union for the final vote. We already know of one person's vote, however, if the on-the-table proposal doesn't change.
Houston Texans star pass rusher JJ Watt, never afraid of voicing his opinions, had a pretty simple response to the CBA proposal. He's a no.
A hard no.
Watt is one of the top overall players in the NFL and one the game's most marketable stars, so his opinion holds a lot of weight. While some may say that the players should play ball and do whatever it takes to ensure there's no lockout like there was in 2011, the new CBA will affect thosands of players' livelihoods. Every detail is important, and no man wants to sell himself short.
At least one part of the CBA proposal, expanding the playoffs from 12 to 14 teams, is expected to go through in time for next season whethr or not the NFLPA accepts the full package.
At the end of the day, the little bit more money they may make in the new CBA is not worth the potential damage done to their bodies by, say, extending the regular season. JJ Watt is insistent here tht the players are not about to settle without a fight.
