JJ and TJ Watt Seemed Dedicated to Watching 'A Christmas Story' for 24 Hours Straight
By Scott Rogust
Christmas Day is here, which means everyone is all the way into the holiday spirit. Whether it's caroling or opening up one present on Christmas Eve, there's always an annual family tradition.
For the Watt family, it appears their custom is watching the cult-classic film "A Christmas Story."
For a full 24 consecutive hours.
That's right Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ and Houston Texans defensive end JJ will apparently watch the annual day-long cable marathon featuring Ralphie and Co. full. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as it's one of the better Christmas movies ever created.
But watching the film 12 times in one day is a bit excessive, isn't it? You're bound to tap out by Christmas dinner. At least put on another holiday flick like "Christmas Vacation," "Elf," or "Die Hard" to mix things up a bit.
Either way, who are we to tell JJ and TJ how to spend their Christmases. They both have big weekends coming up.
JJ has just been activated off the Texans' injured reserve after suffering a torn pectoral muscle earlier in the season, and will start preparing for the playoffs. Meanwhile, TJ will be playing for his postseason life when facing the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but needs a bit of help from his older brother's Texans to help the Steelers clinch the final AFC Wild Card spot.
If watching "A Christmas Story" gets them mentally ready for Week 17, then by all means, watch the full 24-hour marathon. Nobody's going to tell you no.
