Joc Pederson Dropped Perfect NSFW Comment About Russell Martin After NLDS Game 3 Victory
By Adam Weinrib
The Washington Nationals felt good enough about their 2-1 lead entering the sixth inning on Sunday night that they decided to hoist their belt and test the waters with another starter in relief.
But this time, it turned out they'd tempted fate; Patrick Corbin struggled to get the third out of the sixth, as did the arm that followed him in Wander Suero, and it all started with veteran catcher Russell Martin's dam-breaking RBI double.
So, how's Old Man Martin's standing in the clubhouse now, after delivering a perfectly-timed monkey evacuation off the Dodgers' collective back? Joc Pederson summed it up nicely.
Damn right, Joc.
Martin hit just .220 this year at the age of 36, but came through in the clutch when called upon (didn't every Dodger?). He even soaked up innings repeatedly out of the 'pen, remaining a steadying presence even amid disaster.
He's hardly the first 2019 Dodger who comes to mind, but as Pederson noted, he's still got more than enough oaky goodness in reserve.
Most importantly, he's got Dodger fans hoping this year's a glass of the '88 vintage.
