Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins to Follow in Footsteps of Bengals Legends With Number Choices
By Jerry Trotta

The Cincinnati Bengals added to their offense in a big way in the NFL Draft. They used the No. 1 overall selection on LSU quarterback Joe Burrow and later nabbed Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins early in the second round.
If Bengals fans (somehow) weren't already juiced about the team's newest weapons, Burrow's and Higgins' number choices will surely do the trick.
Higgins will don No. 85, which has been passed down from players who enjoyed tremendous success in Cincinnati while sporting the figure. Among the bunch are Chad "Ochocino" Johnson, Isaac Curtis, Tim McGee and Tyler Eifert.

Johnson racked up six Pro Bowl nods in the No. 85 jersey More importantly, he stands alone as the Bengals' all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Curtis was a four-time Pro Bowler and ranks third in receiving yards and fourth in receiving touchdowns in franchise history. McGee appeared in a Super Bowl and Tyler Eifert made the Pro Bowl in 2015 repping the number.
Burrow, meanwhile, appears ready to take the No. 9 -- which he donned at LSU -- and was previously repped by Carson Palmer, who ranks in the top-four in terms of passing yards and passing touchdowns in Bengals history. He too was drafted No. 1 overall by organization.
The value for the contract that Joe Burrow will eventually sign with the Bengals has been set: the four-year deal (plus a fifth year option) will be worth $36,190,137 with a $23,880,100 signing bonus.

It's been awhile since we've been able to say this with at least some conviction, but fans in Cincinnati have every reason to feel optimistic about the future.
