Joe Burrow's Sweet Victory is Guaranteed Based on His Spongebob Socks at Heisman Ceremony
By Jerry Trotta
Barring an unprecedented upset, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow will be presented with the Heisman Trophy for the superb season he put together in 2019.
Throughout the year, Burrow, though remaining humble, grew more and more confident in his game, and that assurance came to a head ahead of Saturday night's trophy presentation.
If the 23-year-old gunslinger wasn't already a mortal lock to take home the hardware, his slick new Spongebob socks are surely enough to make that concept foolproof.
Is there even a point in holding the ceremony anymore?
Burrow shattered every LSU passing record imaginable this year. He completed 77.9% of his throws (342 of 439) for 4,715 yards, 48 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, adding 289 yards and three scores with his legs.
More importantly, he led LSU to the No.1 spot in the final Playoff rankings, and if all goes as expected he will become the first Heisman in the trophy's history to win the award while donning Spongebob socks.
We're honestly not sure which feat is the most impressive.
